Tattoo sleeves are badass and totally eye-catching -- no one can deny that. Turning an entire arm or leg into a work of art requires some serious commitment and love for ink. In fact, we'd go so far as to argue that our arms or legs are the perfect canvas to be transformed into a piece of art. Our limbs are incredibly easy to hide, but also super easy to show off, arguably making tattoo sleeves the best spot to get inked.

One of the best lasers we offer for tattoo removal is the new PicoSure laser from Cynosure. This breakthrough advancement in laser technology erases tattoos with fewer treatments and better results than ever before. Even previously treated tattoos that failed to clear from a different laser can be removed. PicoSure targets unwanted ink more effectively than some other lasers. The PicoSure laser successfully removes notoriously hard to remove ink colors, such as blue and green, as well as tattoos that have been previously treated with other lasers. Some of the benefits of the PicoSure laser include fewer treatments, improved recovery time, and quicker results, all thanks to PicoSure’s cutting edge picosecond technology. Speak to your Schweiger Dermatology Group provider to see if the PicoSure laser is right for you.

Local allergic responses to many tattoo pigments have been reported, and allergic reactions to tattoo pigment after Q-switched laser treatment are also possible. Rarely, when yellow cadmium sulfide is used to "brighten" the red or yellow portion of a tattoo, a photoallergic reaction may occur. The reaction is also common with red ink, which may contain cinnabar (mercuric sulphide). Erythema, pruritus, and even inflamed nodules, verrucose papules, or granulomas may present. The reaction will be confined to the site of the red/yellow ink. Treatment consists of strict sunlight avoidance, sunscreen, interlesional steroid injections, or in some cases, surgical removal. Unlike the destructive modalities described, Q-switched lasers mobilize the ink and may generate a systemic allergic response. Oral antihistamines and anti-inflammatory steroids have been used to treat allergic reactions to tattoo ink.
Geometric tattoos are probably one of the most trending designs from the last couple of years. They look great, are timeless and not too expensive. Above is an example of a silver and black one on the forearm, which is a very popular spot for people to get tattoos now that they’re more socially acceptable and not necessarily restricted to areas that you need to cover up anymore.
Some tattoo pigments contain metals that could theoretically break down into toxic chemicals in the body when exposed to light. This has not yet been reported in vivo but has been shown in laboratory tests. Laser removal of traumatic tattoos may similarly be complicated depending on the substance of the pigmenting material. In one reported instance, the use of a laser resulted in the ignition of embedded particles of firework debris.[55]
Acquiring a good tattoo is considered as a huge milestone – In fact, more and more people are starting to acquire these kinds of tattoos, thanks to their gorgeous look. You might have a couple of inquiries about something before you get that first geometric tattoo. So it’s highly advisable for you to prepare and gain plenty of knowledge about tattooing, so you can be ready.
Remember that you will need touch ups. “Anything with a bold composition is usually easy to touch up and bring back to life, as is black and gray blending,” Dowdell says. “If you had a tattoo of a lion in black and gray—let's assume that the composition is solid but the application not so much—then it’s easier for us to go back into it and re-sculpt it into a legitimate piece of art and make it look better.”
The Japanese sleeve tattoo has long been accepted as a symbol of both spiritual and social status. Although after World War II, the Emperor of Japan was quick to outlaw them since he wants to improve the country’s appearance. And much like anything else that gets outlawed, people began envying what they couldn’t have – Which is what happened in the case of the Yakuza, also known as the Japanese mafia. The Yakuza weren’t the only ones to adopt the traditional art of tattooing – Foreigners did the same as well. The Japanese style sleeve tattoo has a beautiful floral design, a deep meaning, as well as a colorful motif.
Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery is known worldwide as being a leader in laser skin surgery. We were one of the first practices in the world to offer PicoWay laser, an FDA-cleared laser treatment for the removal of tattoos and pigmented lesions. PicoWay laser incorporates picosecond (one trillionth of a second) pulse durations to generate ultra-short pulses with very high peak powers of laser energy on the skin. A strong photo-mechanical impact occurs that results in the fracturing of tattoo ink or pigment particles in the skin.
Cambodia has a rich history and very ancient temples, it also has beautiful looking characters and words. As such it has become quite popular for people to get tattooed when they travel to Cambodia. It became even more in the last decade since Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie went under the gun with a Khmer style tattoo on her back and since then many have copied this style.
